HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) combines phases of maximum exertion with short recovery intervals. While HIT (High Intensity Training) primarily focuses on strength and muscle building, HIIT is especially popular in the cardio area, but is sometimes used in strength training.
A typical HIIT workout might consist of 30 seconds of sprinting followed by 30 seconds of walking – repeated over several rounds. Exercises like burpees, jump squats, or kettlebell swings can also be performed in an interval format. The training not only increases oxygen intake and fat burning, but also muscular endurance and overall performance. Due to the high strain in a short time, HIIT is particularly suitable for people with tight schedules, but requires a solid level of fitness to avoid overloading. In combination with the basic exercises, as found in the MIKE5 training concept, a comprehensive, efficient full-body program can be designed.
