Broad back muscle (Latissimus dorsi)
The Latissimus dorsi gives the upper body its V-shape and is responsible for all pulling movements. Whether pull-ups, lat pulldowns or rowing exercises: Training this muscle automatically works the biceps, trapezius muscle and forearm. The lat can be specifically targeted with exercises such as lat pulldown to the chest, lat pulldown to the neck or lat pulldown with band grip. The movements not only affect the muscle itself but also promote posture, body tension, and core muscles. Anyone who wants to build good posture and a powerful backbone should not only train the latissimus in isolation but also engage in holistic strength training with a well-thought-out training plan, e.g., following the MIKE5 training concept.
